In helping those with acute pain, knowing which technique to use or how best to approach a particular client can be confusing. However, by matching the pain stimulus to the specific area of the neuroanatomy that is being stimulated, we can easily map out a simple technique that will allow you to handle any situation on the spot! I promise not to bore you with hard core science, but I will show you how having a basic knowledge of neuroanatomy will allow you to effectively approach any type of acute pain your client has.
This course not only teaches a readily useful technique for acute pain management, but also gives the participant an understanding of human behavior. Additionally, the technique itself is a conglomeration of many hypnotic principles that can be adapted to a variety of situations.
With over 30 years of experience as a physician, I have come to appreciate the role the mind plays both in creating and maintaining disease as well as in eliminating it. Our own human experience has taught us time and again that we can work ourselves up over a situation to the point that we are upset, anxious, and unable to see a way out. Fortunately, science has shown us that we can also think ourselves healthy.
My name is Bill Anapoell. I am a medical doctor whose emphasis is on acute care medicine in the hospital setting. When it comes to pain, my patients' situations run the gamut from postoperative pain to chronic discomfort they’ve had for years. I have used hypnosis successfully in caring for patients in the emergency room as well as for those going into or recovering from surgery. My patients have also been able to reduce their use of narcotic medication. I am also an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at the UCSD School of Medicine and the Medical Director for over 150 primary care doctors and 450 specialists who together care for over 20,000 patients in the San Diego area. One of my many responsibilities in these roles is educating current and future doctors on the many facets of patient care.
I would love the opportunity to share an algorithmic yet heuristic approach that I call the Homunculus Protocol and which I have used with thousands of patients over the years to achieve effective pain management.
